Important Information
About Your Move-Out at The Connection at Athens

Thank you for being a resident of The Connection at Athens! As your move-out date approaches, we’ve outlined important move-out procedures and expectations to ensure a smooth transition. Please review the following information regarding our move-out process: If you would like to stay for another year, please reach out to us immediately so we can send you your renewal lease.

Move-Out Procedures

Inspection Process:

Move-out inspections will be conducted after your official lease end date has passed. Please ensure the apartment is thoroughly cleaned and that all personal belongings have been removed from the premises before returning your keys.

Items To Return:

All keys and property items must be returned to the office later than 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 20th. This includes all front door key fobs, bedroom keys, mailbox keys, parking passes, pool wristbands, and gate clickers that you are currently in possession of. Failure to return items by the deadline may result in holdover and replacement fees.

Common Areas Responsibility:

The common area is the responsibility of all residents and includes the kitchen, living room, hallways, and any other shared spaces. Whether you’re moving out or renewing, each roommate is responsible for ensuring the common areas are thoroughly cleaned.

Cleaning Requirements:

At the bottom of the page, we’ve attached a Cleaning Checklist for you to reference at your convenience. This checklist outlines specific cleaning tasks that must be completed before moving out of your apartment. Please download and thoroughly review this checklist, as failure to meet these cleaning standards will result in additional charges.

Move-Out Charges

Estimated Charges:

A list outlining estimated charges can be found as part of the Cleaning Checklist attached at the bottom of this page. Download and review the Estimated Charges list. You will be charged accordingly for any damages to the apartment or for leaving personal belongings behind. Please note, charges are estimates and subject to change based on condition and supplier pricing.

Charges for Damages to Common Areas:

While bedroom charges will be made individually, any charges for cleaning or damages in the apartment’s common areas (kitchen, living room, hallways, etc) will be divided equally among all roommates.

Outstanding Balance:

If you have any outstanding balances on your account, such as past rent, utilities, or damage fees, they must be settled before your move-out deadline. Please ensure that all fees are paid in full to avoid delays in the processing of your final statement.

Pet Damage

Charged to the registered owner. Unregistered pet damage is split among roommates.

Forwarding Address & Final Statement

Forwarding Address:

Don’t forget to submit your forwarding address via our Resident Portal. Any cleaning/damage charges, as well as unpaid balances, will appear on your Financial Move-Out Statement, which will be sent to the forwarding address you provide.

Change of Address:

You can complete a change of address by visiting the Post Office or by going to www.usps.com and selecting the “Change of Address” option. While there is a $1 charge for this online service, it ensures your personal mail will be forwarded to the new address.

Additional Notes:

No Late Move-Outs:

We will accept keys anytime before 12:00 p.m. on the day of move-out. Any keys or property items not returned by this deadline will result in holdover charges or replacement fees. Failure to vacate the unit may also result in legal action.

Trash Disposal:

Do not leave any trash or personal items on the property or in the unit. Please use the designated trash bins located around the community to properly dispose of bagged trash. Anything left behind will be removed at your expense, with disposal fees starting at $25 per bag.

Vacating Early

If you choose to turn in your keys before your move-out date, please keep in mind that doing so does not release you from the obligations of your lease agreement. You are still responsible for rent, utilities (if applicable), and any common area charges up until the end of your lease. Our team will not conduct the inspection until after the official lease end date.

Animal Registration:

If you had a pet in the apartment, please ensure it was registered with the office. Any pet-related damages in the unit will be charged to the registered owner. However, if the pet was unregistered, those charges will be distributed evenly among all residents.
